Our Knowledge Prep Course is designed to give students the knowledge and confidence needed to successfully complete the MTO written knowledge tests for commercial driver’s licences.

This 2-day program provides a comprehensive review of the laws, regulations, and weight limitations every commercial driver must understand before taking their MTO Knowledge Test.

Air Brake "Z" Endorsement Course

 

Our Air Brakes Course is a hands-on, 12-hour program delivered over 2 days. The course is taught in accordance with the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) requirements and offered through the Truck Training Schools Association of Ontario Inc. (TTSAO).

Course Overview

This course provides both theoretical and practical training to prepare students for their Air Brake (“Z”) Endorsement. Students will learn how air brake systems work and how to properly inspect and operate them to meet MTO standards.

    • Understand the complete air brake system using our wall-mounted training aid connected to a compressor and axle.

  • Hands-On Experience

    • Explore a fully dissected system to see firsthand how each component works and responds.

  • Theory & Practical Instruction

    • Blend classroom learning with real-world demonstrations for maximum understanding.

  • Test Preparation

    • Review and practice all knowledge areas required for the MTO Air Brake Endorsement Certificate.

Testing

At the end of the 12-hour program, students will complete both the written and practical tests at Ontario Truck Training Academy, administered by an official from the Truck Training Schools Association of Ontario (TTSAO).

 

Outcome

Upon successful completion, students will receive their Air Brake Endorsement (“Z”) Certificate, a requirement for operating vehicles equipped with air brakes in Ontario.

 

 

 

Mandatory Entry Level Training - Classroom

 

Students enrolled in AZ or DZ Diploma Courses at Ontario Truck Training Academy must complete at minimum the Mandatory Entry Level Training (MELT) Classroom.

Mandatory Entry Level Training - Written Testing 

 

Students enrolled in AZ or DZ Diploma courses are required to complete Mandatory Entry-Level Testing as part of the classroom component of training.

 

Tests Included:

  • 10 Chapter Tests completed after each day of classroom training 
  • 1 Final Written “MELT” Test at the end of classroom training covering all course material

These tests ensure that students have a solid understanding of the knowledge required for safe and competent commercial driving.
